| AKM Launches an AV-SCART Switch with Audio DAC for HD Video System | | | |
Tokyo, Japan —Asahi Kasei Microsystems Co., Ltd. (AKM), a leading supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, today launches the AK4706, a single-chip audio/video routing switch including separate high definition YPrPb filtered outputs, for digital STB’s, PVR’s, DVR’s, and IDTV’s. This new chip, also featuring an integrated audio DAC and analogue volume controls, is the latest addition to AKM’s Audio4homeTM range.
The AK4706, a higher addition to AKM’s existing SD AV switch family, is fully compatible with the European SCART standard. The AK4706 saves board space and cost by integrating 3-channel HD video filters and driver needed for high-end HD video systems. Each HD video filter has three bandwidth options corresponding to SD, HD and progressive video signals.
Key features include audio switches with 12V power supply, +6dB to –60dB analogue volume controls, 24-bit audio DAC, video input clamps, video switches, SD/HD video filters and 75-ohm video driver outputs. An automatic power-saving function using video signal detection achieves almost zero standby current, even when operating in loop-through mode, which does not require external processor intervention.
The AK4706 also features SCART fast/slow blanking control functions and S1/S2 control functions for aspect ratio control of S-video, making it ideal for digital AV systems and European STB’s in particular.
