SUNNYVALE, Calif. --AMD (NYSE:AMD) announced today that AMD Opteron™ and AMD Athlon™ 64 processor based systems and AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology have achieved YES Certification from Novell, further validating the company’s commitment to interoperability and customer-centric innovation. Novell YES Certification demonstrates the highest level of compatibility and interoperability with Novell products, including SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. The certification assures users that systems powered by AMD processors are compatible with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and backed by support offerings from both Novell and AMD

“AMD met the stringent requirements to be YES Certified in part because of the extensive collaboration between AMD and Novell over the past three years,” said Marty Seyer, senior vice president and general manager of commercial and performance computing, AMD. “We are proud that our products will bear the ‘YES Certified’ mark, signifying to our mutual customers that they can be assured of compatibility for Novell and AMD technologies”

AMD’s receipt of YES certification is the most recent milestone in the close relationship between AMD and Novell. Novell has consistently supported AMD technology through innovations in SUSE Linux that allowed customers to take advantage of the newest processor innovations. This includes being one of the first operating systems to support 64-bit extensions, optimizations for NUMA memory architecture AMD64, AMD Multi-Core and AMD PowerNow! ™ Technology.

“Novell YES Certification assures customers that Novell and our partners are working together to ensure system compatibility to keep business critical computing functions running,” said Hal Bennett, vice president of global alliances at Novell.” Customers looking to deploy SUSE Linux Enterprise Server now have new options for certified systems from AMD to choose from.”
