| Harris Corporation Names Jim Burke Vice President of Corporate Communications | | | |
MELBOURNE, Fla., — Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has named Jim Burke vice president of Corporate Communications. In the new position, he will be responsible for company-wide branding, media relations, advertising and other external communications activities.
"Jim brings to Harris more than 25 years of communications experience with major corporations, a public relations agency, and media publications," said Pamela Padgett, Harris vice president of Investor Relations and Communications. "His very broad range of communications experience and expertise will be invaluable in supporting the company's strategy for delivering a robust pipeline of new products and technologies, reaching out to current and new customers, and expanding our served markets. I am pleased to have Jim leading the effort to shape and expand Harris' global communications."
Prior to joining Harris, Mr. Burke was vice president of communications for AuthenTec, a privately held biometric fingerprint sensor supplier. Previously, he was senior vice president of Edelman Worldwide, a global public relations agency; director of media relations for Harris Corporation; and communications specialist with IBM's corporate headquarters. Before entering the public relations field, Mr. Burke was a journalist with newspapers, a wire service, and a trade association magazine in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. area. He is a native of Maryland and holds a bachelor's degree from Towson State University. |
