ORLANDO, Fla. (Freescale Technology Forum) – – When 1700 technology enthusiasts gather in Orlando this week for the Freescale Technology Forum, it will be as much a celebration of a milestone as a deep dive into the latest in semiconductor innovations.

Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL, FSL.B) is staging its inaugural technology developer conference on the eve of its one-year anniversary, the second largest high-technology IPO of 2004. Freescale went public on July 16 and has since delivered strong financial performance and a steady stream of innovations.

Freescale’s customers, partners, analysts and media will converge in Orlando to learn how the company is transforming itself and to absorb 400 hours of technical training and 200 technology demonstrations for silicon, system and software professionals.

Intelligence and connectivity

Michel Mayer, Freescale chairman and CEO, will kick off the conference and outline how Freescale, the leader in embedded processors, will continue to play a central role in an age of pervasive computing that drives market opportunities for its customers.

"In an era of vanishing borders, open standards, free trade and convergent technologies, innovation is about intelligence and connectivity," says Mayer. "One day soon just about everything we touch will possess embedded intelligence and connectivity – changing our lives in profound and unexpected ways. Freescale's mission is to create integrated solutions that enable our customers to imagine and deliver more intelligent, more connected products.”

During FTF, attendees also will hear keynote speeches from other industry leaders including:

* Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive officer, president and co-founder of NVIDIA, a worldwide leader in graphical media processors that enhance end-user experience
* Brian Muirhead, chief engineer of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and author of High Velocity Leadership: The Mars Pathfinder Approach to Faster, Better, Cheaper and Going to Mars

Platinum sponsors demonstrating their innovations in the hands-on FTF Technology Lab include:

* Future Electronics
* QNX Software Systems
* Wind River
* Green Hills Software
* MontaVista Software

Some of the demonstrations from Freescale and its partners include:

* The first home theater solution based on multiple simultaneous streams of video over a single UWB connection.
* The Sensing Tri-Axis Reference Board (STAR) demo tool for the recently launched MMA7260Q, a three-axis, low-g accelerometer specifically designed for portable consumer electronics. The sensor enables freefall detection and g-recognition allowing electronics to intelligently respond to sudden drops or changes in position.
* Multi-core processors that debug multi-operating systems, and PowerQUICC™ III and MPC7447 running a network equipment platform.
* An AdvancedTCA network equipment platform enabled by PowerQUICC™ III processors and multi-core DSPs and a high-performance, low-power PowerPC® processor driving a fanless home multimedia server running the Linux operating system.
