AMD Connects Hurricane Katrina Evacuees With Internet Devices In Texas Relief Centers
Austin, Texas -Today AMD announced it has deployed nearly 400 Personal Internet Communicators (PICs) to assist Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. The durable Internet devices, along with free Internet access provided by AMD partners, have allowed evacuees to immediately start reconnecting with family and friends. People are also using the PICs to seek help from relief agencies, scour Internet resources and solve many other communications challenges.

Spansion and TSMC Team to Manufacture Innovative Flash Memory Technology
SUNNYVALE and SAN JOSE, Calif. - Spansion LLC and Fujitsu Limited and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company announced a manufacturing agreement that will augment Spansion's internal production of its 110 nanometer (nm) MirrorBit™ technology. Sipex Announces Chinese Strategic Alliance
Sipex Corporation announced the signing of a term sheet outlining a planned strategic relationship with Hangzhou Silan Integrated Circuit Co., Ltd (Silan-IC). As part of this planned relationship, Sipex announced plans to close its Milpitas wafer fabrication operations. The products currently manufactured in the Milpitas fab will eventually be manufactured in Silan-IC's facility located outside of Shanghai, China. Silan-IC will also acquire a substantial portion of the equipment of the Sipex fab.

Samsung Accelerates Shift to High-Performance Computing by Producing More DDR2 than DDR1 Memory
 
Seoul, Korea - Samsung Electronics Co. announced that it is leading the industry shift from DDR1 (Double Data Rate 1) to DDR2 main memory. As of July, approximately 40 percent of the company's total DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) output is DDR2 and approximately 30 percent is DDR1. This marks the first month that production of DDR2 has crossed over to take the lead from DDR1 in bits produced.

ATX Power Supply Reference Design Meets 80 PLUS Requirements
