U.S. District Court issues preliminary ruling in Agilent Technologies' patent infringement lawsuit against PixArt Imaging
PALO ALTO, Calif. - Agilent Technologies Inc. announced that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California has issued a preliminary ruling in Agilent's patent infringement lawsuit against PixArt Imaging Inc. In the claim construction hearing (also known as a "Markman" hearing), the Honorable Judge James Ware determined the meaning of several disputed terms and phrases in the patent being litigated. Judge Ware's Markman claim construction ruling addresses the interpretation, definition and scope of the claims of U.S. Patent No. 6,433,780.

MiTAC Technology Chooses the Fujitsu WiMAX SoC to Design and Manufacture Cost-Efficient WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment
Washington, D.C. — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) and MiTAC Technology Corporation (MTC) announced that MiTAC will use the Fujitsu WiMAX System-on-Chip (SoC) to develop and manufacture MiTAC's WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). Fujitsu has shipped its WiMAX SoCs, the MB87M3400, to MiTAC to incorporate them into MiTAC's CPEs.

Sharp to Mass Produce an LCD with Switchable Viewing Angle
Sharp Corporation and Sharp Laboratories of Europe, Ltd. have developed a new LCD which enables the LCD to be switched between a wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle by means of an electrical ON/OFF switching action. This feature will allow users to view email and other private information in public on portable devices such as mobile phones and notebook PCs, yet prevents people nearby from seeing what is being displayed on the LCD screen. Sharp will begin mass production of this display beginning in July 2005.”

Supervisory Board Confirms: Executive Committee Acted Correctly
Munich, Germany – Following the report by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Infineon Technologies AG , Max Dietrich Kley, the Supervisory Board has found that the Executive Committee dealt with the case of Andreas von Zitzewitz in depth and correctly along the lines of good corporate governance. The Executive Committee was said to have immediately made the necessary investigations and to have arranged for the internal and external audit required. The Supervisory Board thereby endorses the resolution passed by the Investment, Financial and Audit Committee that the matter was duly attended to and the Executive Committee responsible for the matter cannot be reproached.

Infineon Reorganizes Responsibilities Within the Management Board
Munich - Infineon Technologies AG today announced that the Supervisory Board has approved a reorganization of the responsibilities within the Management Board and the appointment of Prof. Dr. Hermann Eul. Kin Wah Loh, Management Board Member and until present responsible for the Communications Business Group, will assume responsibility for the Memory Products Business Group. Professor Eul, until present Group Vice President and General Manager of the Communications Business Group is appointed Deputy Management Board Member and in this capacity he will take over the responsibilities of Kin Wah Loh.

IBM announces new CMOS image sensor foundry offering
IBM announced the availability of technology and manufacturing services for complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors for use in camera-phones, digital still cameras and other consumer products. The offering combines IBM's copper process technology with image sensor intellectual property licensed from Eastman Kodak Company to produce CMOS image sensors that can offer industry-leading image quality for high-volume consumer applications.

Intel To Build New 300 mm Wafer Factory In Arizona
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Intel Corporation announced plans to build a new 300-mm wafer fabrication facility at its site in Chandler, Ariz. The new factory, designated Fab 32, will begin production of leading-edge microprocessors in the second half of 2007 on 45 nanometer process technology. Construction on the $3 billion project is set to begin immediately.
