Cypress Announces Proposed IPO for SunPower
SAN JOSE, Calif., - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced that it intends to make an initial public offering of the common stock of its silicon solar power subsidiary, SunPower Corporation. The offering is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2005, subject to SEC effectiveness and the receipt of all necessary state approvals.

AMD Sponsors The North American Solar Challenge, Driving The Pursuit Of Engineering Excellence
SUNNYVALE, CALIF. --AMD today announced that it is sponsoring the 2005 North American Solar Challenge (NASC), a competition to design, build and race solar-powered cars across the United States and Canada. Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team Breaking Records With Trek® Bikes Designed On AMD64 Technology
SUNNYVALE, CA --AMD today announced that current Tour de France leader and six-time Tour champion Lance Armstrong is riding Trek® bikes designed in just four weeks on workstations powered by the AMD Opteron™ processor with Direct Connect Architecture. Trek’s Advanced Concept Group completely redesigned the Time Trial bike, known as the “TT,” on the AMD64-based workstations from HP and BOXX to create the new “TTx” in record time, giving the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team a competitive edge at the Tour de France. As a result, on July 5, 2005 the team broke the 10-year-old Tour de France speed record for a team time trial by almost two seconds, averaging an astounding 57.31 kph in the 67.5 km stage.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IR® introduced a new 20V DirectFET™ MOSFET synchronous buck converter chip set. The IRF6610 and IRF6636 small can DirectFET MOSFET pair has performance similar to a pair of SO-8 MOSFETs with a 40% size reduction. The chip set is designed for high frequency, point-of-load (POL) designs where size, efficiency and thermal performance are critical design considerations.

Lattice MachXO Devices Provide New Low Cost Alternative to CPLDs and FPGAs
HILLSBORO, OR - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation announced its new MachXO™ family as well as immediate availability of its first two members, the MachXO256 and MachXO640. This new class of Crossover Programmable Logic device supports applications that traditionally have been addressed either by high density CPLDs or low capacity FPGAs, but with a more comprehensive and cost-effective architecture and technology. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors spotlights a bridge: Tiny LEDs take centre stage
 
Visitors to the Regensburg festival, which took place from June 24 to 26, were attracted to the town’s famous Stone Bridge by a mysterious light. Osram Opto Semiconductors bathed the historic bridge in a magical atmosphere with two special LED spotlights. The lighting installation was part of the Treasure Island concept of Stadtmaus, the Regensburg event organiser and provided the lighting framework for a mediaeval spectacle.
