TEXAS INSTRUMENTS EXTENDS BATTERY LIFE IN PORTABLE SYSTEMS WITH INDUSTRY'S LOWEST-POWER PROGRAMMABLE DSP

Award for the “Compact LED Light Sources” project team
The Science Award from the Stifterverband (a German foundation for the promotion of science) was presented to the “Compact LED Light Sources” project team on October 18, 2006 at the annual Fraunhofer conference in Bremen. In addition to OSRAM Opto Semiconductors the team includes the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF, Carl Zeiss Jena and Siemens VDO Automotive. The aim of the project promoted by the German Federal Ministry for Research and Development was to identify new applications for LEDs and produce marketable products.

FTI Network Is Now Online, Delivering Vital Voice and Data Communications Services to the FAA at Significant Cost Savings

Harris Corporation Team Completes Cutover of FAA's Legacy Satellite System to New FTI Network
WASHINGTON, DC, — Harris Corporation today announced that it has successfully completed the cutover of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) legacy satellite network, FAATSAT, to the new FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) satellite network, or FTI-SAT. The FTI-SAT transition affected 85 earth stations and 200 satellite services and was completed on schedule in just over 12 months as part of the overall FTI program. Harris is the prime contractor and system architect for the FTI program that was awarded in 2002. The announcement was made during the 51st Annual Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) Conference and Exposition (Harris Booth #415) being held October 29 through November 1, 2006 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC.
