DALLAS (April 3, 2006) - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced today a buck-boost power management integrated circuit (IC) that helps extend battery life in smart phones, digital still cameras and other single-cell, lithium-ion (Li-Ion) powered multimedia devices. The DC/DC converter delivers up to 96 percent efficiency over a wide input voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V, while generating an output current up to 1.2 A.

ANALOG DEVICES EXTENDS PRECISION ANALOG MICROCONTROLLER FAMILY WITH APPLICATION-SPECIFIC MCUS
 
Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal-processing applications, today extended its portfolio of precision analog microcontrollers with a device that combines new levels of on-chip integration, performance and analog peripherals required for motor control and smart sensing applications that are widely used in industrial and automotive system designs. The ADuC7128 features a powerful 32-bit ARM7 RISC microcontroller core, a 12-bit multichannel, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) operating at speeds to 1 MSPS (mega-samples-per-second) and 50 percent more embedded flash memory at 126 Kbytes. The new device builds on the success of Analog Devices’ ADuC702x precision analog microcontroller family by embedding application-specific analog peripherals that reduce development time and cost associated with existing discrete solutions in motor control and smart sensing applications. The peripherals include 6-channel pulse-width modulation (PWM) with H-bridge mode, an on-chip quadrature encoder that deliver the speed, position and direction control required by dc motor controls, and an integrated direct digital synthesizer (DDS) and low-pass filter that generates a raw sine wave at up to 1 MHz to act as a stimulus for smart sensing applications.
