| Infineon is First Semiconductor Manufacturer to Receive "Supplier of
the Year 2004" Award From Continental Automotive Systems | | | |
Munich, Germany – At the
beginning of July 2005, Infineon Technologies AG was the first semiconductor manufacturer to receive the ‘Supplier
of the Year Award 2004‘ from the automotive supplier Continental Automotive Systems for its extraordinary quality
and logistics performance. This is the fifth year that Continental Automotive Systems presented this award and, from
a total of 1,500 companies, named three as suppliers of the year.
The main reasons for awarding the prize to
Infineon were given by Matthias Epe, Vice President Purchasing Electronic Systems and Components, Continental
Automotive Systems, as above all quality and logistics performance, but also customer orientation and speed.
“Providing our customers with fault-free products is our paramount aim. The quality of the
semiconductors used plays a decisive role in this regard, and Infineon is the number 1 for the year 2004,” according
to Epe. Moreover, he says that Infineon has “excellent logistics performance” for which business processes are
harmonized and a shared logistics concept has been developed. Thirdly, he says that Infineon can deliver quickly and
flexibly. “On average it takes about three months from the first step in production through to testing,” said Epe.
“Due to the tough competitive situation, car makers are forced to produce and ship their vehicles within a few days.
This leaves us with a big gap that Infineon helps to close.” Last but not least, the ‘global, well-positioned
customer service, and Infineon's excellent staff‘ make the flexible supply chain a reality.
For
Peter Bauer, Member of the Managing Board and Head of the Automotive, Industrial and Multimarket Business Group, the
supplier award is confirmation of the quality management program ‘Automotive Excellence’, introduced by Infineon in
2003. “Quality and customer orientation have top priority for Infineon. No other semiconductor manufacturer today
has this kind of comprehensive quality management. Fault-free products are our goal, to which all our employees have
committed. Our development and production processes along the entire value chain are optimized on an ongoing basis
toward achieving this goal.” |
