Worlds Only 64kHz Composite Clock Transceiver Supports More Frequencies than Any Other Single IC

DALLAS, TX -Dallas Semiconductor introduces the DS26504, an enhanced building-integrated timing-supply (BITS) clock-recovery element. Extremely versatile, the DS26504 augments the capabilities of the Company’s earlier BITS products (the DS26502 and DS26503) by adding support for the following popular frequencies: 64kHz timing interface (GR378 and G.703 Option A and Option B), 2048kHz and 6312kHz (Japanese) synchronization interfaces, and the standard T1/E1/J1 interfaces. Other standard, supported frequencies include 19.44MHz and 8kHz. Basic framing and formatting are also provided in the T1/E1/J1 operating modes, making this part an extremely versatile solution for composite clock and T1/E1/J1 architectures.

The DS26504 is also a low-cost solution for composite-clock transceiver applications. The device can translate from any of the supported inbound synchronization clock rates to any supported outbound rate. No external component changes are required to switch between any of the synchronization clock rates or the T1, E1 and J1 standards. Additionally, no relays or switched external components are required, and a single master clock supports all operating modes.

Packaged in a small 64-pin LQFP like its sister BITS products, the DS26504 is 30% smaller than competitive solutions. The part is available in commercial (0 to +70°C) and industrial (-40°C to +85°C) operating temperature ranges. Prices start at $18.46 (5000-up, FOB USA), currently 22% less expensive than comparable solutions. An evaluation kit is available.
