RABBIT SEMICONDUCTOR®, INC. OFFERS EMBEDDED CAMERA APPLICATION KIT FOR REMOTE MONITORING, SECURITY, ASSET MANAGEMENT, AND OTHER APPLICATIONS

Davis, CA- Rabbit Semiconductor, Inc. is proud to introduce the Camera Interface Application Kit, which provides embedded engineers an example of a Rabbit-based embedded device used in an event-triggered monitoring system. Web-based event monitoring is used in applications such as visual remote monitoring, security, asset management, alarm systems and other applications. The Camera Interface Application Kit combines the industry-proven RCM3365 RabbitCore module, with a VGA camera module and an infrared motion sensor. The RabbitCore module features GPIO and Ethernet connectivity and provides the intelligence to receive input from a motion sensor and trigger a “photo capture,” and then activates a user-configured action such as an email notification, or an FTP upload of the photo – all controlled from an easy-to-use web interface.

Design engineers will enjoy the time and cost-savings of the Camera Interface Application Kit. The kit contains two servomotors that provide pan-and-tilt motion for the camera, an infrared motion detector for event triggering, and a RCM3365 for embedded control. The kit’s robust features offer numerous implementation possibilities using the Dynamic C development software and included FAT File System software module. The easy-to-use, password-protected web interface is served by the RabbitCore module, and can be accessed from anywhere in the world using a standard web browser. The included RCM3365 provides up to 128 MB of removable memory storage and 10/100Base-T Ethernet connectivity, which allows the user to store and manage large photos, receive email event notifications, or transfer logged files to an FTP server.

Rabbit Semiconductor developed the Application Kit program to showcase the capabilities of a Rabbit microprocessor-based device in various connectivity technologies and peripherals. Rabbit currently has application kits for Bluetooth®, cellular GSM/GPRS, serial-to-Ethernet, and a color touchscreen display. These kits help to jumpstart design engineers in developing Rabbit-based system solutions.

The Camera Application Kit is priced at $499 qty. 1, and is available beginning June 9th, 2006.
