New 8-bit MCUs from Fujitsu Provide ADC, LCDC, and High-Speed CPU for Consumer Electronics, Appliance Applications

Sunnnyvale, California — Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) is introducing a new set of 8-bit microcontrollers featuring the high-speed operation, high-speed integrated ADC, and integrated LCD controller (LCDC) required in advanced consumer electronics, digital media equipment and home appliances.

Fujitsu is upgrading its 8-bit F2MC-8FX family to deliver speeds up to 16MHz in its MB95120M series, which also will feature flexible, on-board programmable Flash. The new 8-bit MCU also will provide conversion speeds of up to 1.2 microseconds for the 10-bit ADC, along with a noise-tolerant I/O option.

“More complex and sophisticated features are being added to new generations of digital cameras, audio players and other digital media equipment as well as household appliances such as dishwashers, microwave ovens, and rice cookers,” said Akio Nezu, senior marketing manager for Embedded Solutions Product Group at Fujitsu Microelectronics. “These new features have created the demand for higher speed operation. We are responding to that requirement – including higher speed and integrated Flash memory – across our 8-bit microcontroller product lines.”

The improvements in Fujitsu’s 8-bit microcontroller family will lead to their adoption in new consumer and computer products, according to Nezu. The Fujitsu F2MC-8FX families are widely used in consumer electronics products, digital media equipment, and household appliances.
