| Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) and NASDAQ Co-host Opening Bell Ceremony from San Jose, California|
San Jose, Calif. , Cadence Design Systems, Inc., together with The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (NASDAQ:NDAQ) will today host a NASDAQ Remote Opening Bell ceremony live from San Jose, California to commemorate Cadence's one-year listing anniversary on NASDAQ. The ceremony will take place at Cadence corporate headquarters and will be broadcast simultaneously on NASDAQ's seven-story Tower in Times Square, bringing the event from San Jose to New York.
The NASDAQ Remote Opening Bell ceremony will occur at 6:30 a.m. P.T. (9:30 a.m. E.T.) on November 1. The NASDAQ Opening and Closing Bell Ceremonies occur daily from NASDAQ's Times Square Studio but can be conducted remotely, symbolizing NASDAQ's electronic market.
The ceremony, co-hosted by Cadence CEO Mike Fister and NASDAQ Executive Vice President Bruce Aust, will be witnessed by Cadence employees and board members and seen by millions of viewers via television networks that broadcast the ceremony daily throughout the U.S. and around the world.

NASDAQ Opening and Closing Bell events are symbolic ceremonies that represent the open and/or close of the NASDAQ trading day, which brings together investors and market participants from around the world to trade electronically.

On average, the NASDAQ processes approximately 20,000 stock market transactions per second and nearly 12 million trades per day. The market open and market close are the busiest times in the trading day, in which NASDAQ's systems handle transaction peaks in excess of 20,000 transactions per second.
