| Agilent Technologies' Rapid Resolution LC System Now Fully Compatible with MS Line from Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX|
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced that its 1200 Series Rapid Resolution Liquid Chromatography (RRLC) system is now fully compatible with the line of mass spectrometers from Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX. Mass spectrometry (MS) is one of the most accurate and sensitive scientific research techniques, well suited for small-molecule research, such as in pharmaceuticals and metabolomics. Liquid chromatography (LC) is widely used throughout the life sciences and analytical chemistry industries to separate samples prior to MS analysis.
Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX has released its Analyst 1.4.2 LC/MS control software, which enables integrated control of the new Agilent 1200 Series RRLC as well as Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX's entire line of triple quadrupole and linear ion trap mass spectrometers. Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX is reselling the Agilent 1200 Series LC under an original equipment manufacturer agreement with Agilent.
"Lab managers have a variety of specific needs, and we strive to remove the barriers to building the labs they desire," said Tony Owen, Agilent Liquid Phase Separations Division marketing manager. "When we designed the 1200 Series LC, we made it reverse-compatible so that users of our older LC systems could easily migrate to the new system. Now, Applied Biosystems/MDS SCIEX mass spectrometer users can enjoy the same compatibility with a rapid-resolution LC system that is 20 times faster and delivers 60 percent higher resolution than conventional HPLC. The 1200 Series can also be used for conventional HPLC, providing additional flexibility."
