|CSR and Sonaptic partnership brings stereo enhancement and bass boost technologies to CSR’s multimedia Bluetooth solution|
Cambridge, UK – CSR plc and Sonaptic today announced that Sonaptic Sound EngineTM technology is now available on CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia silicon. Sonaptic is the latest in a series of CSR eXtension Partners – a programme designed to offer mobile device manufacturers the highest quality and most feature-rich Bluetooth audio solution available.
The Sonaptic Sound Engine offers either mono or stereo audio expansion for Bluetooth headphones and speakers using CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia silicon. Sonaptic technology also brings bass-boost and equalization features to CSR’s BlueCore boosting the quality and functionality of Bluetooth headphones. The Sonaptic Sound Engine also supports both MP3 and SBC decoding for the most common music formats; whilst the automatic gain control ensures that high quality audio is maintained even in conditions of varying input levels.
CSR has designed the eXtension Partner Programme to allow the most advanced software features and functionality such as Sonaptic’s Sound Engine to be easily added to CSR’s BlueCore multimedia product offering. These software elements then further boost the feature set and quality of end-products fitted with CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia Bluetooth silicon. CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia is the ideal platform to support such third party software because it includes a powerful integrated 64 MIPS 24-bit DSP.
Kevin Carey, Product Manager, Sonaptic commented, “Sonaptic Sound Engine expands conventional stereo sound, giving it a warmth and richness that reveals details in the music that listeners would expect from their living room hi-fi.” Carey continued, “CSR’s multimedia Bluetooth architecture offers Kalimba, CSR’s own powerful integrated DSP that provides the ideal platform for hosting our Sound Engine”.
Richard Ord, SVP of CSR’s Wireless Audio strategic business unit (SBU) commented, “CSR is alone in the industry in integrating a DSP into our multimedia BlueCore products. BlueCore5-Multimedia incorporates our most powerful DSP yet at 64 MIPS and the on-chip memory means that we can offer our customers so much more value through our eXtension partnerships.” Ord continued, “Sonaptic stereo and bass enhancement technologies enable our customers to bring hi-fi quality to wireless stereo products using CSR’s BlueCore5-Multimedia silicon.”
BlueCore5-Multimedia offers superior sound quality for headset, hands-free and mobile devices applications with a best-in-class signal to noise ratio of -95dB. BlueCore5-Multimedia also leads the industry for power consumption and radio design. The radio transmits at +6.5dBm and receives at -90dBm which eliminates interference when listening to music or taking a call. When used in stereo headset applications, BlueCore5-Multimedia enables industry-leading battery life of more than 24 hours of music playback.
