| MegaChips LSI Solutions Adopts Incisive Xtreme to Improve Design Team Verification Process |
SAN JOSE, Calif. , Cadence Design Systems, Inc., today announced that MegaChips LSI Solutions, a subsidiary of MegaChips Inc., has chosen the Cadence® Incisive® Xtreme® Desktop for its overall design and verification flow. The new hardware acceleration and emulation system will initially be targeted to shrink the verification cycle of MegaChips Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) decoder LSI for Terrestrial Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB-T). MegaChips noted that the Xtreme system shortened the overall time allocated for verification by up to two-thirds—a key factor in MegaChips decision to adopt the system for their design team.
MegaChips "Fusion of Knowledge for LSI and System" concept has long been the driving force behind its high-quality image compression/decompression, audio processing and communication products. The architectures within these designs are extremely complex and require some of the most advanced and readily available verification solutions. Xtreme Desktop fit their needs by combining ease of adoption with flexible debug capabilities, and high-performance engines.
"Our long verification cycles have made it very difficult to finish projects on schedule," said Mr. Tetsuo Furuichi, Director/Officer, MegaChips LSI Solutions Inc. "The Xtreme Desktop simulation-like solution has dramatically reduced our verification cycles and allowed us to meet our expected schedule with high system-level quality. We'll continue to rely on Xtreme Desktop and leverage the technology even further on future projects."
Part of the Cadence Logic Design Team Solution "Design with Verification," the Incisive Xtreme System and underlying technology features VCD-on-Demand, hot swap and behavioral processor technology that offers easy migration from simulation to acceleration. The latest generation Xtreme III Systems can accommodate up to 12 users simultaneously, making it the premier acceleration/emulation offering for entire design teams. Xtreme acceleration, coupled with the Incisive Plan-to-Closure methodology, provides a packaged design and verification methodology that addresses full-chip and system-on-chip challenges at block, chip, and system levels.
"The Xtreme product line is expanding hardware-assisted verification to the masses by making it much easier to adopt," said Christopher Tice, senior vice president and general manager of the Verification Acceleration Group at Cadence. "MegaChips overall success highlights our ability to provide overall project-level value to logic design teams worldwide."
