Micro Power Continues National Expansion with Appointment of Southern Regional Sales Manager

Micro Power today announced it appointed Bill Stout as Southern Regional Sales Manager. Mr. Stout will oversee the company’s new Atlanta, Ga. office. The office is one of four new sales centers recently opened by Micro Power in Boston, Mass., Chicago, Ill. and Los Angeles, Calif.

Micro Power’s national expansion was financed in part by two rounds of venture capital investment in May and October 2004, totaling $14 million. Lead investors in those rounds were Sierra Ventures, Menlo Park, Calif., and Palisades Ventures, Los Angeles, Calif.

Mr. Stout brings 28 years of custom battery pack experience to Micro Power. He previously held several management roles for Motorola, Inc.’s Energy Systems Group (ESG). Mr. Stout holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

“Micro Power will benefit from Mr. Stout’s extensive knowledge of the challenges and needs of our current and prospective portable power clients, as well as his long standing relationships with leading Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) and medical equipment manufacturers,” said Greg Love, president and CEO of Micro Power. “I have no doubt he will be an integral part of our success as Micro Power continues its national sales expansion.”

Micro Power focuses on one of the electronics industry’s fastest growing sectors – power solutions for portable, handheld devices. The company’s battery systems power close to 70 percent of all portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in the market today. Micro Power is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registered supplier of custom battery systems for portable medical equipment. The company also serves the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) data management markets and portable sectors within the communication equipment market.
