Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), the leading global supplier of products that optimize system power, today announced
Shihab Kuran, Ph.D., has been selected to lead product development for the Analog Products Group (APG), reporting to
Bob Conrad, Fairchild’s senior vice president, APG. Kuran will be responsible for setting the direction and
development of new power products and managing the company’s strategic direction for highly integrated devices for
APG.
“Dr. Kuran’s extensive education in circuit design and device modeling as well as his over
ten years’ experience with power management devices and business development make him ideal to lead
Fairchild’s APG product development,” said Conrad. “Fairchild is focused on the design and
manufacturing of highly integrated products such as our recently announced µSerDes™ devices. These
devices offer the industry’s lowest EMI and lowest standby power serialization solution available in the
market place today for cell phones. I’m pleased to have a person of Kuran’s caliber helping to
expand our new product development for APG.” Kuran holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in
Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York. He has several patent applications and more than
20 publications. During his Ph.D. work, he designed and developed a family of high speed power management
products.
Most recently Kuran was senior vice president
of strategic marketing at Sipex
Corporation, where he was responsible for the strategy and restructure of the
company’s focus on power management. Kuran began his career as a design engineer in advanced circuit
design with ANADIGICS, Inc., and advanced into management roles in engineering, design technology, advanced
development and business development.
