| Vitesse Lands Multiple Contracts for SMC Networks’ Gigabit Ethernet Switches | |||||
CAMARILLO, Calif. - Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. announced that its Gigabit Ethernet Switch ICs and ultra-low power copper PHYs are integrated into SMC Networks’ newest Gigabit Ethernet switches: SMCGS16-Smart and SMCGS24-Smart. This new line of SMC Smart switches are well-suited for Enterprise and SMB environments where applications demand increased speed and bandwidth with streamlined management. Vitesse Gigabit Ethernet products are also designed into SMC Networks’ EZ Switch™ 10/100/1000 Gigabit unmanaged switches: SMCGS5, SMCGS8, SMCGS16 and SMCGS24. “SME customers seek the right mix of key features, ease-of-management, and economy,” said Tony Stramandinoli, SMC Networks’ vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Vitesse not only demonstrated to SMC a clear vision and understanding of the SME market, but they worked closely with us to ensure that we could deliver the right product set with the right features to be successful in this highly competitive market—and in a timely and cost-effective manner.” By using Vitesse’s highly integrated, feature-rich Gigabit Ethernet devices, SMC reduced the number of required active components in their smart switch designs without compromising key features that their customers demand such as next-generation security, Quality of Service (QoS), and a user-friendly web interface.
