Micrel Offers New 150mA LDO For Portable Applications

San Jose, Calif. — Micrel Inc. launched the MIC5306, a new 150mA LDO with ultra-low dropout of 60mV. The new IC is ideally suited for today’s battery-powered consumer products including cell phones, PDAs, notebook computers, MP3 players and digital cameras.

“Designing a low quiescent current LDO without compromising on specifications critical in portable applications is a challenging task,” noted Ralf Muenster, Micrel’s director of marketing for power products. “The MIC5306 offers industry-leading transient response and low output noise without compromise on PSRR performance, making it an ideal product to power digital logic in portable applications”

The MIC5306 features ultra-low Iq of 16uA (typical) and 0.01uA shutdown current. It also offers very low drop-out of 60mV (typical) at 150mA, is ucap stable and has a wide Vin range of 2.25V to 5.5V. The IC offers an output voltage accuracy of 2 percent, over the full industrial temperature range of 40-deg C to 125-deg C. It is available in fixed output voltages and is offered in thin SOT-23-5 packaging.
