INDUSTRY’S SMALLEST, LOWEST POWER, HIGH-SPEED OCTAL ADCS ENABLE HIGHER CHANNEL COUNT IN PORTABLE MEDICAL DESIGNS

Analog Devices is debuting the industry’s first family of octal, high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to extend to 14 bits. The eight-channel high-speed converters are ideal for portable medical devices and ultrasound machines, for which lower power consumption and smaller board space are critical design considerations. The 10-bit ,AD9212 and 12-bit AD9222 consume less than 100 mW per channel, yielding a savings of as much as 5 to 6 watts, as compared to competitive offerings, in ultrasound systems containing up to 512 channels. As the industry’s first 14-bit, high-speed octal ADC, the AD9252 offers designers the highest dynamic range for high-performance imaging applications, such as radar and sensitive non-destructive testing.
