Power-One And Micrel Introduce Z-ONE™ Compatible Solution For Low Current Applications
Camarillo, CA and San Jose, Calif. - Power-One, Inc. (NASDAQ: PWER) and Micrel Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRL), today jointly announced availability of a Z-OneTM compatible solution for low-current applications.

The solution is based on Micrel?s MIC68000 family of linear regulators that are now interoperable with Power One?s Z-OneTM Point of Load converters (POLs) and ZM7300 digital power managers. By combining the ZM7300?s ability to control analog devices and the advanced power management capabilities of Micrel?s MIC68200, the Company?s first LDO in this family, the Companies have created a true open architecture-solution that allows customers to manage sequencing of multiple outputs with delays that are programmable via the industry standard I2C bus. In addition, the solution provides closed loop turn-on and turn-off tracking between Z-OneTM POL converters and Micrel MIC68200 linear regulators with user-programmable slew rates. It also implements event-based cascading of multiple outputs and generates the system reset signal with programmable delay. Finally, customers can execute elaborate fault management and interrupt schemes to offer users a higher degree of system control and flexibility.

First LED Driver to Eliminate the Need for an External Microcontroller or Switch-Mode Converter is Ideal for Automotive Lighting Applications
SUNNYVALE, CA —Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX16806 EEPROM-programmable, 350mA, high-voltage (40V) linear, high-brightness LED driver. This IC can be programmed through an I2C* interface to fold back the LED current if input voltage or LED temperature rises above the programmed threshold. Although a traditional architecture requires switch-mode converters to reduce power dissipation, the unique design of the MAX16806 LED driver manages total power dissipation in a lighting system, and thus eliminates the need for a switch-mode converter. Consequently, the MAX16806 reduces both cost and EMI concerns for powering high-brightness LEDs. The benefits of the Company's approach will be immediately noticed in a broad range of lighting applications such as automotive interior and exterior lighting.

Harris Corporation Continues as Exclusive HD Radio Transmission Vendor for Radio One
CINCINNATI — Harris Corporation's (NYSE: HRS) Broadcast Communications Division today announced that Radio One, the nation's seventh-largest radio broadcasting company, has exclusively purchased Harris transmitters for its third round of HD Radio™ conversions. Radio One will install Harris transmitters at 18 stations (17 FM and one AM) through the end of the year. All FM stations will receive Z-Series™ transmitters with the Harris® FlexStar® family of HD Radio™ products (HDI-100 Importers, HDE-100 Exporters and HDX-FM exciters) for multicasting.
