STMicroelectronics Extends Low-Cost ST7Lite MCU Family to Include Enhanced Timer and Interface Peripherals
Geneva – STMicroelectronics today announced a new series of 8-bit Flash microcontrollers within the low-cost ST7Lite family which add new embedded peripherals to the established ST7Lite feature set. The ST7FLITE3 MCUs introduce an enhanced 12-bit auto-reload timer and a master/slave LINSCI™ asynchronous interface into the 20-pin package, and mark a significant step forward in communication and control functionality for real-time, industrial, consumer and motor control applications.

STMicroelectronics Launches its First Range of Set-Top Box Chips to Embed SVP (Secure Video Processor) Capability
Geneva – STMicroelectronics announced its first silicon devices to implement Secure Video Processor (SVP) technology, the next generation open specification for the protection of digital video content. The STB5525 STB decoder – which is also ST’s first single-chip solution to support dual TV and dual DVR (Digital Video Recorder) requirements in standard definition STBs – and the STB5524– which targets the growing DVR market – are intended for use across satellite, cable and terrestrial TV services.
