Two of the leading radio frequency identification (RFID) semiconductor manufacturers, Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN), today announced an agreement to cooperate on conformance testing for the technical interpretation of the EPCglobal Inc™ Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) Generation (Gen) 2 RFID standard. This joint effort is aimed at ensuring interoperability and accelerating market deployment of Gen 2 products, such as labels, hardware and system solutions, to offer multiple sourcing for implementations of RFID throughout the world.

Norwood - Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal-processing applications, today announced that the AD7745, the industry’s first capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC) received Sensors Magazine’s “Best of Sensors Expo” award during its annual conference held last week in Chicago. One of only three “gold” products cited for excellence, the AD7745 received top honors in the category of “sensor components.” The CDC is a high-resolution sigma-delta converter that accepts direct capacitance inputs and enables on a single chip a level of precision previously only possible with conventional analog voltage-to-digital converters. This eliminates the discrete components needed for traditional multi-chip solutions and makes possible a cost reduction of as much as 65 percent.

Singapore - Flextronics (NASDAQ: FLEX) announced today it has signed separate agreements for the sale of Flextronics Network Services (FNS) and Flextronics Semiconductor. As previously announced, FNS will merge with Telavie AS, a company wholly-owned by Altor 2003 Fund, a Nordic private equity firm. Under the terms of the definitive agreement, Flextronics will receive an upfront cash payment, deferred and contingent payments, and will also retain a 30% ownership stake in the merged company.
