| Philips ships 15-millionth hybrid IC tuner for the digital TV market |
Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced that it has sold 15
million hybrid analog/digital TV tuner chips, accounting for over 30 percent of the total number of tuner chips sold
worldwide since 2003. Philips' advanced versatile hybrid tuner chips meet the various worldwide standards for both
analog and digital devices. This integration simplifies the design process by combining both functionalities in a
single chip. By reducing the amount of discrete components manufacturers can easily and more cost-effectively
introduce new digital TV (DTV) devices, cable/terrestrial tuners and set-top boxes (STBs) with faster
time-to-market. |

Atmel's New SmartRF Wireless Data Transceiver Dramatically Lengthens
Battery Life and Cuts Chip Count | Grenoble, France - Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML),
announced today a new single-chip RF transceiver, providing high-level performance for ISM band applications, with
notably lowered current consumption and a 30 percent cut in the low bill-of-materials. The ATA542x tranceiver family
is targeting 315/345/433/868/915 MHz bands and represents a major step in the integration of RF transceivers. The
Image Rejection Mixer allows elimination of a SAW filter, the Low-IF architecture does not require external IF
filter, and the low loss integrated RX/TX switch eliminates need for an external switch. This typically allows 30
percent reduction in passive components versus current solutions. | Leer la noticia completa | Martes, 28 Junio, 2005 - 07:01 | |
