| AMD Promotes Mario Rivas To Executive Vice President Of Computing Products Group | SUNNYVALE, CALIF. -- AMD today announced that Mario Rivas has been promoted to executive vice president of Computing Products Group (CPG). In this role, Rivas will be responsible for driving the development, strategy and management for AMD’s broad and growing portfolio of consumer and commercial microprocessor solutions. Rivas will report to the Office of the CEO, comprised of Hector Ruiz, chairman and chief executive officer and Dirk Meyer, president and chief operating officer. Rivas brings more than 25 years of semiconductor management experience to this strategic position. He joined AMD in 2005 and most recently headed AMD’s Office of Strategy Management, where he led the company’s strategic planning process. AMD Applauds Senate Passage of Bipartisan Bill to Authorize EPA to Study and Analyze Growth and Energy Consumption of Computer Data Centers | SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- AMD today applauded final congressional passage of H.R. 5646, bipartisan legislation that directs that Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to study and promote the use of energy efficient servers. Co-sponsored by U.S. Representatives Michael Rogers (R-MI) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) as well as U.S. Senators George Allen (R-VA), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and championed by leading associations in the high technology, energy efficiency and business sectors, the EPA study will provide the data and analysis to help cultivate the purchase of energy efficient server technology by government and enterprise customers. Atmel® Corporation, announced today the newest member of Atmel's SAM9 family, the AT91SAM9263 embedding a 200 MIPS ARM926EJ-STM-based microcontroller that overcomes the bottlenecks that occur with conventional ARM9TM-based MCUs in graphically-interfaced, data-intensive applications such as networked medical monitoring equipment and GPS navigation systems. The AT91SAM9263 employs 27 DMA channels including Atmel's 18-channel peripheral DMA controller (PDC), a 9-layer bus matrix, and two additional busses for data- and instruction-tightly-coupled-memories (TCMs) to boost CPU performance and provide on-chip data transfer rates of up to 41.6 Gbps.
