Infineon leverages Multi-Gate Technology to achieve breakthrough results - New semiconductor structures significantly improve energy efficiency Three dimensions to success
Munich, – Multi-gate field-effect transistor technology appears to be an answer to many challenges down the road toward ever-smaller integrated circuits that retain high functionality while consuming considerably less energy than the planar single-gate technologies available today. In a demonstration of this new technology, researchers at Infineon have tested the world’s first complex circuit fabricated using a new 65nm multi-gate transistor architecture. With an approximately 30-percent smaller footprint compared to current single-gate technology with the same functions and performance, the new transistors had quiescent current that measured a factor of 10 less. According to the researchers' calculations, this will increase the energy efficiency and battery life of portable devices up to two times compared to the 65nm technology going into production today. For future technology nodes (32nm and beyond), this factor will increase significantly.

Major U.S. Employers Join to Provide Lifelong Personal Health Records for Employees
WASHINGTON, D.C., -- As the cost of providing health care continues to rise, Applied Materials, BP America, Inc., Intel Corporation, Pitney Bowes, Inc. and Wal-Mart are funding an independent nonprofit institute to develop “Dossia,” a Web-based framework through which U.S. employees, dependents and retirees can maintain lifelong personal health records. Together, the companies will provide this benefit to more than 2.5 million individuals across the United States starting next year.

DVEO Uses Cypress's HOTLink™ SERDES For High Definition Video Streaming System Used On International Space Station
SAN JOSE, Calif., - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced that DVEO, the broadcast division of CMI, has selected Cypress's SERDES for its DVB Master FD™ PCI Card.
